90117: Sit and Serge: Log Cabin Table Topper
Now that you know how to use your serger, bring it back to class and we’re going to make a pretty little tablecloth with your new skills!
Fabrics needed:
1) 1/8 Yd for center square-should be a fabric that reads as a solid
2) 1/4 Yd Light for one side of block
3) 3/8 Yd Med for one side of block
4) ½ Yd Dark for one side of block
5) ¼ Yd Light for other side of block
6) 3/8 Yd Med for other side of block
7) ½ Yd Dark for other side of block
8) 3/8 Yd for inner border
9) 1 1/2 Yd for outer border and hem
Bring to class:
o 4 spools of Overlocker thread to match fabrics above. These can be all the same color or a mixture of colors. It would be good to use the same weight of thread for all 4 threads.
o Overlocker set up with 2 needles for a 4 thread stitch and threaded in a color to match before class. Please be sure you have sewn a sample to make sure all tensions are correct.
o Foot control for overlocker.
o Cutting mat, rotary cutter and a quilting ruler 4” x 12” or close to this size.
o Scissors, markers, seam ripper.
o Scraps to serge so you can set the cutting width correctly.
Before class:
Precut Fabrics 1-7 into 1½” strips. All log strips are cut 1 1/2 wide x width of the fabric. (Fabrics 1-7)
Precut Inner Border Fabric into 2 ½” strips
Precut Outer Border Fabric into 8” strips
